We got to know the photographer behind the adorable photo on our April 2018 cover. Meet Lori Koblanski!

THANK YOU FOR SUBMITTING THIS PHOTO FOR OUR APRIL COVER! WHO IS THIS CUTIE AND HOW OLD IS SHE?

This is my granddaughter Evelyn, and she is 2 years old.

WHAT DOES GRANDMA LOVE MOST ABOUT HER?

Well, she calls me “Nana,” and what I love most about her is that she is silly. She is such a happy girl and is so silly that she makes me laugh right out loud.

Beautiful, Smart, Silly.

WHAT GOT YOU INTERESTED IN PHOTOGRAPHY?

As crazy as it sounds, getting my first smart phone. It took such great pictures, and I realized how much I really like taking photos and seemed to have a good eye for it, and where we live in upstate New York has no end to beautiful photo ops. So, after a while, my husband got me a “big girl” camera for Christmas and I haven’t stopped shooting since. I took a beginner photography class just to learn the basics, but I have learned mostly on my own. I absolutely love it!

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS TO PHOTOGRAPH?

My granddaughter, of course, but I don’t really have any favorite things. It’s just whatever catches my eye and what I see beauty in. Many photographers have a “style,” but I guess I really can’t say that. I photograph what speaks to me and hope that it speaks to others.
